Design Prize 2011 Shanghai

Valentien+Valentien and SLADI received the “Design Prize 2011“ of the City Shanghai for the landscape architecture of the Chenshan Botanical Garden Shanghai. The Botanical Garden was designed for the EXPO 2010: 35 theme gardens are located on an 200 hectare, circle-shaped area. The Garden is a true example of globalization, blending German engineering knowledge with Chinese gardening tradition while representing the world’s nature. Its circular layout is at the same time a strong symbol for the principles of sustainability—a crucial issue not only for the rapidly growing city of Shanghai
