Sakura or cherry blossom is intimately identified with Japanese culture. For centuries it has been an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life and symbolizes transience and nobleness. Stefan Boness is a photojournalist based in Berlin and Manchester. His photos have received several awards including a World Press Photo Award. His long-term documentary projects in the tradition of Conceptual Photography include reflections on urban landscapes as well as street photography.
