Cologne, which has seen repeated major urban expansion over the centuries, is expecting a significant growth spurt in the forthcoming years. Not only will the right side of the Rhine, formerly with a strong industrial character, experience far reaching transformation, but the Rhine metropolis will also see changes on the left side of the Rhine: The profile of the historical city center will continue to develop and wasteland will transform into vibrant city districts. The publication Kölner Perspektiven (Cologne Perspectives) provides an insight into planning and construction and into the current building culture discourses about the cathedral city.
