From the Research Lab: After Tomorrow #4 - Strategies of Tactical Urbanism - Tel Aviv-Yafo/Berlin
Die Veranstaltung findet in englischer Sprache statt.
Covid-19 has been spreading across the globe, a worldwide pandemic that reshaped our urban environment, driving tectonic shifts in cities and communities. Experiencing similar challenges, both Berlin and Tel Aviv implemented ad-hoc strategies designed to address the evolving situation: first, the shift of social interactions into private and digital realms; and in recent months, the massive public protests against police brutality, social inequality, and controversial government policy.
Urban planners and architects play an increasingly significant role in studying the resilience of urban space and its political and social implications; how can we adapt cities to the ongoing challenges? How can we comply with the requirement to maintain physical distance while ensuring public access, supporting social action, enabling participation, and empowering the people?
Join Naama Riba, architecture journalist at Haaretz, and Doris Kleilein, director of the architectural publishing house JOVIS, for an online discussion about these issues.
